Portrait of Sneha Shikta

I am Sneha.

I believe the right story can shift perception, and the right campaign can drive real change.

My work has always been guided by one belief: communication can build understanding and drive change when it is rooted in people's lived realities. I began my journey in social work, moved into marketing, and now work in communication and advocacy — experiences that together have helped me see how stories can influence systems as much as they touch individuals.

Currently, at the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), I lead campaigns and communication strategies that strengthen awareness and policy dialogue on disability inclusion. My work combines research, design, and storytelling to create visibility for issues that are often overlooked.

This portfolio is a reflection of that journey — the campaigns I've helped shape, the stories I've told, and the spaces where communication has become a tool for inclusion.

Advocacy and Policy Communication

At NCPEDP, I have had the opportunity to design and lead national-level campaigns that connect advocacy with public engagement and policy influence. One of my current focus areas is the Ayushman Bharat for Persons with Disabilities campaign, which seeks to ensure equitable access to health insurance under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. I am involved in shaping the campaign’s communication strategy, developing policy briefs and outreach materials, and building public awareness through inclusive storytelling and media engagement.

I am also working on the Access to Justice campaign, which highlights the systemic barriers persons with disabilities face in seeking legal remedies and calls for accessible court infrastructure, digital platforms, and procedural reforms. My role involves developing campaign messaging, supporting stakeholder communication, and managing digital visibility across platforms.

Earlier, I helped design Mera Vote, Mera Bharat, an electoral inclusion campaign during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, focusing on accessible polling and representation. I also contributed to the public release of the Disability Manifesto 2024 by preparing communication materials, press releases, and outreach content that helped spark national conversations on accessibility and inclusion.

Through these initiatives, I have worked closely with government partners, media, and civil society networks to strengthen the visibility of disability rights within broader public policy discussions.

Strategic Communication and Brand Building

In addition to advocacy, my role involves leading communication for key organisational events that celebrate and advance disability inclusion. I have managed communications for the Universal Design Awards (2024 and 2025), the Helen Keller Awards (25th edition), and World Disability Day 2024. Each event required building comprehensive communication plans that combined digital campaigns, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and post-event visibility.

I also led the redesign of NCPEDP’s website, working on its content structure, accessibility compliance, and overall alignment with the organisation’s communication goals.

Storytelling and Multimedia

Storytelling sits at the core of my work. I collaborated on the narrative structure and messaging for Impact Films under NCPEDP’s programmes, including one on the Scholarship for Students with Disabilities and another featuring Fellows with Disabilities from across India. My contribution focused on ensuring that the stories were authentic, respectful, and reflective of lived experience.

Beyond films, I have written and curated personal stories of people whose lives and work embody the principles of accessibility and inclusion. These narratives have helped connect policy advocacy with human experience.

Marketing and Creative Communication

Before joining NCPEDP, I worked as a Business Development and Marketing Representative at Weddings by Shutter Stories in Delhi. This experience gave me a strong grounding in creative communication and audience engagement. I managed brand marketing, social media campaigns, and advertising strategies across platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

The role strengthened my understanding of design-led communication, content planning, and audience insights, skills that now inform my advocacy and development communication work.

Social Work and Community Engagement

My journey began in the development sector as a Social Worker at the Agricultural Consultancy and Rural Development Institute in Ranchi. I worked on rural development projects in collaboration with ATMA, conducted health and life skills training for women and youth, and organised community events.

During my internships at Dr. Reddy’s Foundation and IWT Academy, I supported inclusive education programmes, contributed to project documentation, and facilitated skill development sessions for persons with disabilities. These early experiences grounded my work in empathy, community perspective, and the importance of inclusion at every level.

Skills and Tools

My core skills include strategic communication, content development, digital accessibility, inclusive messaging, and campaign coordination. I have experience in social media strategy, brand storytelling, press relations, and documentation.

I am proficient in Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom, with working knowledge of Figma for design projects. I use Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace for coordination, content creation, and project management.

I combine these technical skills with a creative and analytical approach to build communication that is both purposeful and people-centred.

Closing Note

Every project featured in this portfolio reflects one belief: communication has the power to create change when it is rooted in empathy and inclusion. Through my work, I aim to keep building stories and strategies that strengthen awareness, promote accessibility, and contribute to a more equitable world.
